We had a lightly attended meeting today, but we got a lot done!
You may have noticed the new e-mail. firstname.lastname@example.org will be the best way now, to, you guessed it, contact CLAW. :) I'll also use this e-mail address to send out official reminders and whatnot.
Coming up in April (04/02/2011) is the Houston Indie Book Festival (http://indiebookfest.org), which CLAW will be attending. We're trying to decide on what sort of things to put on our table to attract guests and get people interested in our group. If you have an idea, by all means, let me know.
I'd also like to have a few copies of something to distribute (for free or profit, your call!) at the table, such as books or a bound collection of short stories, even if you produced it outside of CLAW. I'll even let you take 100% of the proceeds, since I'm that nice of a guy.
The festival will run from 9AM to 6PM that day, rain or shine. I'll be there all day, but would appreciate an occasional break, so let me know if you'd like to show up, and I'll be glad to let you run the table for as long as you like.
If you're the Facebooking type, I updated the CLAW Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Clear-Lake-Area-Writers/150677731640064). I'd appreciate it if you "liked" it. :)
Also, Tim suggested something that I thought was a good idea: Each meeting, we give at least one person time enough for everybody to thoroughly critique his or her work. Basically, spending half of each meeting discussing a single writer's work. I'm interested in everybody else's opinion regarding this, however, so please let me know.
If anybody has any other ideas on how to make CLAW a more useful group, please let me know. I'd be glad to hear it.
Keep sending out those works for critique, and keep sending back your critiques.
See everybody at the next meeting, March 12, 2011.
P.S. If you would like to stop receiving CLAW updates, please let me know. I'll take you off the distribution.
